    Plus

    • The best-looking phone around crushes it in performance, battery life, water-resistance and wireless charging. An external storage slot lets you keep more photos, videos and music.

    Minus

    • Its awkwardly placed fingerprint reader leads to camera smears and longer unlock times, which is aggravating when you use it to unlock your phone dozens of times a day.

    Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy S8's fast speeds and fantastic curved screen make it a top phone for 2017, but the annoying fingerprint reader could sour your experience.

    Slutsats

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 review

    Plus

    • Amazing, large display
    • Huge power
    • Great camera

    Minus

    • Irritating biometric unlocking
    • Very expensive at launch
    • Bixby pointless

    Conclusion
Apart from the irritating performance of the biometrics and the high price, the Galaxy S8 is a phone that offers an exceptional experience for any user. The large screen is a real turning point in flagship phone design and should usher in the end of large bezels, and the camera and slick performance work brilliantly under the finger. It commands a premium price, but make no mistake: this is a truly premium phone.

ConclusionTo conclude our Galaxy S8 review: there is a lot of good to be said about the “New Galaxy,” as everyone calls it. Those of you that were left nostalgic by the beauty of the Note 7 will be happy to see even more beauty shown off here. There is a lot of genius being placed on this design… So much so that I highly suggest that you go to a store and hold one to fully understand what I mean. The only challenge continues to be the same we’ve always dealt with Samsung. Beautiful software should not be an excuse for stutters, or the slow speed at which Galaxy phones get updated to newer versions of Android. I’m not calling these deal breakers, but really just problems that are getting old for a phone this expensive.Would I recommend the Galaxy S8? Sure! My minor list of complaints can be fixed with an update. This design and form factor are definitely the future for smartphones. A future which you can already access today.Related VideosPositives+ Modern 2017 flagship design (Phablet that feels small) + Great build quality + Software optimized for one handed use + One of the best cameras of 2017 + Good audio performance through headphones + IP68 water and dust resistant + Best specs on a flagship so far + Iris scanner and Secure folder are awesome + Best display on a smartphone

Conclusion Samsung has taken the best phone around and made it even better with an impressive Infinity screen and premium design. It ticks a shedload of boxes - as you'd expect from a flagship. It's one of the best phones of 2017, and is nearly half the price of the iPhone X. But the biometrics are a let down. If you want a slightly larger screen and battery, then the S8+ also gets our approval. Though now, the OnePlus 5T offers staunch competition on specs and price.

    Samsung Galaxy S8 Android smartphone

    Minus

    • No stereo speakers
    • Fingerprint scanner in an inconvenient location (though admittedly easier to reach than on the S8+)
    • The bulk of the photo and video content doesn't make the most of the available screen area due to the unusual screen aspect ratio

Samsung Galaxy S8 review: A mobile masterpiece

    Plus

    • The most eye-catching phone design you can buy today
    • Great-looking 18.5:1 aspect ratio AMOLED screen is ideal for entertainment (even more so when HDR comes into play)
    • Best Samsung software experience to date
    • Decent battery life and optimisations
    • Rear camera is excellent

    Minus

    • Fingerprint scanner is poorly placed
    • Iris and face recognition logins have limited success
    • Bixby button initially useless
    • Connectivity can cause issues with perfect playback/graphical functions
    • Some features hidden in menus
    • Expensive

Conclusion The Samsung Galaxy S8 is the flagship to rule all flagships. From a design perspective it's an unbridled head-turner, delivering design that's a step above any of the competition out there. The 18.5:1 screen ratio is central to a focus on entertainment and will only get better with HDR-compatible apps. But as much as the S8 is the amalgamation of Samsung's good ideas, it has necessitated some poor choices too: the rear-positioned fingerprint scanner is the weakest in any flagship, by position and by responsiveness; while Bixby doesn't really warrant being a selling point just yet, as it's roughly non-existent and the dedicated button ought to be programmable. But those points become somewhat moot when considering the iris-scan unlock and the presence of Google Assistant. Add to that the excellent camera experience (which is delivered without too many gimmicks), Samsung's most battery-conscious and customisable software rework to date, and what we have here is the best Android phone of 2017.In short: the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a masterpiece; one with a few brush-strokes out of place, but a masterpiece nonetheless.Alternatives to consider...Pocket-lintSamsung Galaxy S8+Want to go super-sized? Well, the Plus model ought to be right up your street. With a 6.2-inch screen, the S8+ doesn't feel too large thanks to that near-2:1 aspect ratio screen. The larger scale means a larger battery capacity too. Oh, and a larger price point too.Read the full article: Samsung S8+ reviewPocket-lintLG G6First out of the gate with this new 2:1 aspect ratio display with HDR was the LG G6. It might have pipped Samsung to the post in announcing its phone, but the Samsung betters the design in our view.Read the full article: LG G6 reviewPocket-lintGoogle Pixel XLIf you want a big-screen phone without the 2:1 aspect ratio, the Pixel XL is the mac-daddy of Android phones. It's pure, enhanced Android with all of Google's latest tricks packed in to a fast, powerful device with a brilliant camera and exemplary battery life. The design isn't as exciting or eye-catching, though.Read the full article: Google Pixel XL reviewPocket-lintiPhone 7 PlusIf you want it all but without the Android part, the 7 Plus is your current best bet. It feels much fatter in the hand, but iPhones have long offered a consistently good experience. It's excellently built, has a great camera system, lasts more than a day per charge and offers the best apps available anywhere. The design does look dated, though.Read the full article: Apple iPhone 7 Plus reviewSamsung Galaxy S8 pre-order deals- You can get the Samsung Galaxy S8 64GB in orchid grey or black: £79.99 up front, £45.99 per month on EE for 24 months, 5GB data, unlimited minutes and texts - get it here- Those looking to go with Vodafone, can get the Samsung Galaxy S8 64GB in orchid grey or black: £100 up front, £42 per month on Vodafone for 24 months, 24GB data, unlimited minutes and texts - get it here- If you prefer O2, the Samsung Galaxy S8 64GB is available in orchid grey or black.
